So the idea with the XPL range is to deliver an even higher performance sub range in 12″ and 15″ sizes. We did SPL12.3 and 15.3 and learned about spider limitations. We did SPL12.4 and SPL15.4 as an evolution. We then pushed the limit further with the enormous SPL12.5 and SPL15.5. But we wanted more. The remit was a sub that could handle over 3000w RMS and have an Xmax of over 25mm each way. A low Fs as possible while balancing this against the sensitivity so they will still be musical on lower power. Using 4 x XPL prototype woofers we managed an astonishing 159.23 DB at the Swedish DB championships in September 2016. The experience gained from this fantastic result has resulted in the even better, stronger and louder production version XPL hybrid woofer series which manages to be at least a litttle musical as well as SPL competition ready. This is a woofer to be very, very proud of and production is highly limited as the units are hand assembled by a team of just three engineers.

Version History

This product was evolved from the winning XPL15.1 and is the same, built in 12 inch format. Launched to market late Q2 2017. A tremendous sell out success the XPL12 will be available again at the end of 2018, with exactly the same build quality and devastaing performance. V2 was made available to market Q1 2019 and features a newly developed tinsel arrangement for even more durability at the limit. Support is ongoing with softparts for this discontinued woofer as at the last modified date.
