The SPL12.2S is the latest and greatest iteration of the fantastic SPL12.2 series. Featuring everything that made the SPL12.2 the go to choice of the enthusiast that wanted power and performance at a stellar price, but with some important improvements. Firstly, the adhesives have been totally replaced with the same coil to cone joint compound as we use on our top of the range woofers. Secondly, the spider has been revised to incorporate the latest stitched in braid type tinsel wires and dual layer technology. On the cone, we have installed a carbon fibre dustcap and made subtle revisions to the voice coil. We also offer recone kits to refurbish existing SPL12.2 non "S" models to "S" specification, or to allow repair of worn or burned examples. Performance from the 3 inch VC and big motor structure is as impressive as ever, but now with slightly higher limits, offering the competitor that extra safety margin to eat into when aiming for the win. This is the DVC 2 Ohm version

Version History

The SPL12.2 is a highly developed product, and has incorporated lessons from many earlier versions. In 2 Ohm guise, the S version is same motor structure and basket assembly as the 12.2.2 from Version 3 (Feb 2017 production onwards). The magnet is slighly smaller outer diameter but the power is the same and the other dimensins are also the same. Only the "softparts" are different. Note that attempting to use the S recone in SPL12.2.2 earlier than this may result in damage as there were changes to the speaker (see version history for SPL12.2.2 for details.) For the next batch, we will see if the product can be shipped in a gloss cardboard retail pack rather than the plain cardboard type. Arrived to market Q4 2018.
